Bisqued Fungus

Description

I spent a long time carving this piece. It's only bisqued, so I need to glaze it still. When I see this, it's as intimidating as a blank page. I have no idea how I'm going to glaze it. I'm thinking about using an ash glaze so the texture shows up a lot. I don't want to lose the texture both physically and visually though. It is possible, I just need to figure out how. I also want this to be brighter than my other recent pieces. I'm tired of brown and shades of brown. I was thinking a bright yellow, bright green or even a soft blue. At the moment I see myself going from a dry brown since the top looks like dry wood, to a glossy yellow ash. But for the soft ring around the outside I have no idea what to do. Any ideas, or criticism?
